Trial Installation Garbage Truck
12.31.2006
During the last week of November we installed one of our 40 - cell units "The SilverBack" on a trash truck.
At the onset this truck had a higher than average output of smoke and poor power.
During the following weeks the driver noted a significant increase in power while the Mechanic noted on his
computer that the fuel consumption at idle went from ~0.9 - 1.1 GPH to a steady 0.6 GPH. He also noted that
the normally foul exhaust was no longer evident in even small quantities. Additionally, prior to installation
this truck had an idling problem whereas the RPM's would swing with a range of 75 - 100 RPM variance and
a constant unexplainable vibration issue existed.
Currently both the RPM and the vibration issue have been resolved using "The SilverBack".
Mileage results are difficult to determine on a Garbage truck due to load weights between stops being inconsistent,
traffic, obstacles to get to the dumpsters, lines, etc.
However, the daily fuel consumption has improved on some routes by up to 50% while others ranged between 15%-20%.
